The star primitive is found in the built-ins folder and is used to create star type shapes. Within the star editor you have an option for star corners/points which allows you to add the number of tips or points to your star. The least amount of corners you can have within the star is 3, which makes a triangle. There is also an option for the star radius which will increase the outer radius of the shape. This may come in handy if you have a high number of corners/points and they start to run into each other. There is also a button to add a hole in the star and the Star Inner Radius Factor will increase or decrease the hole size.
